Custom Widgets for new theme 'Fontfolio'

I just changed the theme of my Blog for the 1st time since I created it in February 2011. I like the new theme Fontfolio, but I do not like the default widget.

I would prefer to have the widgets permanently shown on the right side as it was with the Titan theme.

Also, all the widgets I did use in the old theme do not appear on the left default sidebar as if there is not enough room.
There is no indicator that tells visitors about the default sidebar. How will they know to click on it?

    Can that be customized?

Again, my thanks to everybody at WordPress for all the fine work you have done in making such a user friendly host.

Hi there, I took a look at your blog, and it looks like you’ve switched to the Fiore theme rather than the Fontfolio theme.

I’d be happy to answer your questions, but first I want to make sure I’m giving information about the right theme. :) Can you confirm which one you want to use on your blog?

    Hi Rachel,

Yes, I did make a mistake in identifying the theme I’m using, and I like the Fiore theme I want to keep.

On my PC, on the left widget sidebar, there is no room for the archives to be listed.

Hi Ray, thanks for clarifying that for me. I’ll do my best to answer your questions about the Fiore theme:

I would prefer to have the widgets permanently shown on the right side as it was with the Titan theme.

The position of the sidebar is built into the Fiore theme, so it can’t be changed. Some themes have a bit of flexibility about the sidebar positioning, but in this case it’s only available on the left side.

Also, all the widgets I did use in the old theme do not appear on the left default sidebar as if there is not enough room.

I see what you mean. I reported this issue to our team to see what we can do about this. :)

There is no indicator that tells visitors about the default sidebar. How will they know to click on it?

The three-line icon in the upper left (sometimes called a “hamburger menu icon”) is used to indicate that there is a sidebar on the page. If you’re interested, here’s an article that mentions how this icon is being used (#4 in the list): http://theindustry.cc/2013/01/07/13-design-trends-for-2013/

Please let me know if you have any other questions about this!

    Thanks Rachel,

I like the new look enough I will stay with it as it is. Thanks for your help.
