Custom WordPress themes?

    Hello Everyone,

I signed up for a WordPress account today and set up a humor blog. I’ve been planning this for awhile and decided to sink in the $15 to register and map the domain name “darknumchuck.com” to my blog all through WordPress. I found a neat little theme that looks good for now, but I was kinda planning on using ComicPress, an external WordPress theme. I want to do a webcomic, and while a small time WordPress theme is ok, I need the archiving and top of the page displaying functionality. Is there anyway for me to use this with WordPress.com?

I have the sinking feeling that if I can’t edit HTML, and I’m being asked to “Upgrade” just to mess around with CSS and my sidebar colors, I may have to move to just the WordPress software on different hosting. How difficult is it going to be to migrate the domain name I registered through WordPress (via Automattic) to a different hosting site if the need arises?

    Thank you very much!

When hosted here at wordpress.com, you are limited to the themes listed under presentation > themes. We cannot edit or modify the underlying theme files nor the wordpress files.

With the CSS upgrade, you can change the way the blog looks, but not the functionality.
