custome domain
-
I have just mapped a custom domain to my wordpress blog. I mapped http://www.dulwichbooks.co.uk, chaning the nameservers and the like. I have received messages to say it has updated. I find that http://www.dulwichbooks.co.uk still goes to my “old” site but dulwichbooks.co.uk (that is without the www) goes to the wordpress site. Help

Both domains – with and without the www – are going to your WordPress.com site on this end. You may need to update your browser cache and cookies to get both URLs working at your end.
Please let me know if you’re still having any trouble.

Thanks for your prompt and reassuring reply. I have cleared out caches and cookies and still get the “old” site for the www. address. I have also turned off my computer and then downloaded firefox and got the same result. I tried it on my phone and Blackberry Playbook and all of them went to the old site.
Any suggestions
Cheers

Thanks for doing those tests, it rules out an issue with your browser or your local PC.
I’m wondering if your ISP is just being slow to update its DNS records. To rule this out, would you mind trying to access the www URL from another location/ISP, such as a library, or café, if you’ve been testing from an office or home? You could also ask a few friends in different locations and using a different ISP than you to try the link as well, and let you know what they see.
Please let me know how it goes.

Everything is fine this morning so I think your assessment of a slow ISP was spot on. Many thanks for your help.Great service Cheers
