  I have a client who wants a simple username box on their landing page. When they enter a specific username (that they’re told in advance), it takes them to a specific URL.
  There won’t be many clients, perhaps 5 a month, so eventually a database will be created.
  Does anyone know of a plugin that will do this?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  That sounds like custom coding to me. Having a look around there’s this: http://qnimate.com/login-user-into-wordpress-without-password/

  … but you would require a WordPress.org site for that or anything similar.

  Hi Joe,

  This isn’t to login to WordPress, it’s where a customer can enter a username which they are told, and then they are re-directed to a specific URL. So each username will link to a unique URL.

  That is the most obvious option, I did suggest this to my client, but he wanted his customers to enter a username and then have a re-direct.

  That’s a basic form, and easy enough to code without a plugin. But not on WordPress.com sites (with perhaps the exception of a plugin for a Business Plan). I doubt there’s a plugin for something so simple, but hey, maybe :)

  @panoramicdesign – You haven’t provided us with the URL of your client’s site.

  However, as stated above, what you are asking is not possible on a site hosted here on WordPressdotcom, unless it is running the Business upgrade plan which can use plugins.

  If you are talking about a site using the standalone WP software, you’ll want to seek further assistance at https://wordpress.org/support If you don’t have a username on the ORG forums you can register one on that page.
