Customer Portals
-
Hey, I’m currently looking into whether WordPress would be able to help me in my mission to create a customer support portal for my business. We are looking for something that we can easily customise ourselves that we can gateway access to through a log in page. How easy is this to do with WordPress? And what kind of package/plug ins will I need to do this successfully?

Hi there!
Can you give us more details into what you’re trying to accomplish here? What sort of information are you looking to manage for your customers? Are you going to be selling any products or services through this? Any other details you can provide?
Once we have that information, we’ll be better able to advise.
Thanks!

Hey, the plan would be that existing customers could create an account that we would approve. Once they log in they would have access to a website containing resources, events updates, how-to-guides, customer-specific blogs and (maybe) raise support tickets.
We have multiple products, so depending on how complicated it would be to build, we might also want to have different views for each product that we could select for the customer.
They would not be able to buy anything through this – would only be for educational/support purposes.

Sure, so there are few things you could do for that.
With the Premium Content block, available to all sites on a paid plan, you can have member-specific content: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/premium-content-block/
And, for setting up a membership site, we have an in-depth tutorial at https://memberships.blog
For raising support tickets, you might want to try just a contact form, which is available to all sites here: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/form-block/
