Customers do not receive order confirmation or invoice

We have the problem that customers are no longer receiving order confirmations or invoices after a purchase. This has always just worked since we had a professional setup the website, so we dont know how to fix it. Any ideas?

Sorry forgot to add that, we also have the problem that the payment is taken from the customer before we approve it. We used to approve it in the Woo app e.g. when we had prepared the product for shipping.
