customisable draft

  • Unknown's avatar

I am just trying to set up this new site. I have managed to get a couple of pages looking how I want, but whenever i go to the customiser to add the ‘more about me’ page to the front menu, it’s not showing up as an option

and under ‘pages’ on the dashboard, it was showing as customisable draft (until I changed it to ‘private’ to see if that made a difference). What am i doing wrong? I don’t have that on any other pages and I can’t get rid of it.

    Hi there!

Thanks so much for getting in touch. From what I can see here, the reason your ‘More About Me’ page isn’t showing up in your list of pages to be added to the navigation menu, is because it hasn’t been published yet.

Can you try heading back to Pages in your dashboard, clicking on your ‘More About Me’ page, and then click the ‘Publish’ button in the top right-hand corner?

Once that’s done, try heading back to your Customizer and adding the page to your navigation menu. Hopefully it should be available this time.

Let us know how that goes, or if any other questions come up!

Thanks. That makes sense. I am finding the various control pages completely baffling, frankly! No idea which the ‘customiser’ page is, but I’ll find out. Hitting ‘publish’ is counter-intuitive when you haven’t finished building the site!

  • Hi @cooksue88, this may help with the customizer:

    WP
    Customizer

The Customizer is where you will go to take your site’s theme to the next level. From this section, you can change your Site Title and Tagline, add Widgets to a Sidebar or Footer, create Menus, change your Homepage Settings, and more. Some options found in the Customizer will be different based on different themes. In addition, newer themes do not use the Customizer at all and may use the Site

Hitting “Publish” just moved that page from a draft and on to your site so it can be added to the menu. No one can see your site until you actually launch it. Currently visiting your site URL I see the “Coming soon” message.

  • Ah, thanks for getting that point @themagicrobot.
