    I wanted to know before commit to wordpress, how customisable it is. If i download a theme, can i literally tear it apart and keep the elements i only want, and resize, reshape and move and add everything else? I can’t seem to do much on the free account i have, but £85 is a lot to stump up, up front if I’m only able to choose different fonts and colours.

    No. The deepest custom edits you’ll be able to perform on a WordPress.com theme will be via the CSS editor.

    If you are interested in editing themes, or even building your own, then the WordPress.org flavor of WordPress might be more to your liking. Have a look at the following links:
