Hello,
I have just started my site and trying to customise the background and logo but I can;t work out how to get rid of the yellow circlish logo write below the name and logo, is it possible to get rid of it or change it?

Hi! That icon is your gravatar to remove that, just go into the customizer under theme options and make sure there is nothing in the text box. Screenshot Hit save and you’re good to go!

Hi Iris,
You have two options with that header logo you are referring to. If you want to remove it completely, you can do as @crazywickedawesome suggested and simply navigate to Themes > Customize > Theme Options, then make sure the box under Header Logo is empty. The logo will disappear from the site.
If you’d like to change the image that appears, you’ll first need to change your Gravitar, which is another product created by the same company that created WordPress.com. You can create your own Gravatar using your WordPress.com account here.
Once you have a Gravatar account, you can change the image used to populate the logo part of the theme you are using for the site. To do so, navigate to Customize > Theme Options > Then enter the email for the Gravatar account you created. The logo will now use the image you uploaded to your Gravatar account.
