Customising Moka theme on WordPress.com
-
Hi, I am using the Moka theme on my WordPress.com site. How can I remove the date and the “filed under” sections from each post? Is there a code I can use, and if yes, where exactly should I add it? Thanks in advance!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @zebawrites,
You can use CSS to hide the date and the filed under section. Use the CSS Editor of WordPress to edit the CSS style of your website.HOW TO ACCESS THE CSS EDITOR?
Read these support documents to access the CSS editor and add/edit CSS codes to your site:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/editing-css/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-css/THE CSS CODES:
1. To hide the date:.entry-date { display: none !important; }2. To hide the filed under section:
.entry-cats { display: none; }Hope this helps :)

Thank you so much! That worked! Can you help me with two more things please?
1] How can I remove the enormous white space between each post on my Home page?
2] The posts on Home page seem to be sorted by those edited most recently. Is there a way to stop that? I’d like to set a date to each post and ensure they display according to dates even if I edit them in the future.
Please let me know if I can message you somewhere separately for these.
Cheers!

Also, just one more question: I’d like to build a front page like the one displayed here: http://www.elmastudio.de/en/themes/moka/ I’m wondering if this is possible on WordPress.com, or would I have to switch to WordPress.org?
Thanks again!

1] How can I remove the enormous white space between each post on my Home page?
The filed under section you just hid was under this footer section of this post, and therefore there’s so much space at the bottom of each post. So to reduce that, use this CSS code:.post .entry-footer { padding: 20px 0px !important; //adjust the 20px value according to your need }And also, there’s a space added at the top of successive posts, to reduce that use this CSS code:
.site-content .post { padding: 10px 0px 0px 0px; //adjust the 10px value according to your need }2] The posts on Home page seem to be sorted by those edited most recently.
There’s a way to change a post date. But it is recommended not to do that because the when you publicly publish a blog post, the URL of that post contains the publishing date itself. So when your old visitors visit that post link they get a 404 error(not found error) since the URL of this page is changed.Read this:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-do-i-change-the-date-on-a-post?replies=2There’s no way of changing the order of the post in which they are displayed on the post page itself. However, there’s a small hack to do this. Read the instructions given here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/show-your-posts-in-chronological-order/
Read this detailed answer by @timetheif on this thread:

and see if it answers everything you are looking for. Also, read the answers on this topic as well:

Yes, it is possible to do that. The easiest way being that you can buy that theme itself, from here: https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/moka/

If you are really comfortable with CSS coding, you can create a static front page and edit that page suing CSS. But it may require a lot of patience and experience in CSS. -

Hi otpidusprime! So since I’m not too experienced with CSS yet, I’m wondering if I should take professional help to set up that theme – the front page slider, sticky posts, etc. Any suggestions on where I can get that?
-
@zebawrites if you want you cant take professional help, but it is not necessary. All the things are already provided on the official support documents of WordPress.COM just Google them or search them here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/
Or you can ask for help here on the public forums.
Here’s the guide to setup sticky posts:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-visibility/#sticky-postsSince you are using a premium theme you can post your question to setup a slider on the official moka theme forum: https://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/forum/moka
Or just read the description on the theme page: https://wordpress.com/theme/moka
Hope this helps 🙂
