customising the McKinley theme

  I’ve started a page with one of the simple themes suggested at the beginning, and now want to change it to McKinley.
  When I change to McKinley, the image used in the original theme still persists, rather than the image with the bicycles shown with McKinley.
  I cannot find where to customise the image used for either the original theme or McKinley.
  How do you change the background images for themes?

  Hi @watagadmin!

  Images and content aren’t changes when you switch themes on an active site (if you’d uploaded your own image, we wouldn’t want to delete it on you!)

  You can set up your site to look like McKinley (using your own content/images) by following the steps on this page:

  There is also another option. We have a tool here I can run that will add the demo content and theme settings for McKinley on your site.

  There are two ways I can run that tool, if you’d like:

  1. Add the demo content and original settings for the theme (this may mean you have some extra or doubled posts/pages that need to be moved around)
  2. Complete reset which will delete all of your site’s content. This deletion cannot be reversed, so please make sure that’s what you want to do!). Your content would then be replaced with the theme’s demo content.

  If you’d like me to do either of those things, please confirm:

  1. the address of the site
  2. which option you’d like
  3. that you are sure you want your content deleted (if you’ve chosen the second option)

  Thanks for the information.
  I couldn’t work out how to change the images to look like McKinley (using your own content/images) by following the steps on this page:

  So to get things started, please update watag.org with option 1 above which is to put the McKinley demo content at watag.org
  I have only just started on the site so there is no content of substance yet to worry about if it all goes pear-shaped!
  I may even end up doing option 2 myself sometime in a few days, before I add heaps of content, if I find a template option which is even more appropriate. I hope that’s ok to do that after all your help.

  You bet!

  I’ve added the demo content for McKinley onto your site – you’ll still find all of the posts/images that were there previously in place, as we didn’t delete anything along the way.

  When you mention having trouble with the images, do you mean the slider on the demo site, that lets you cycle through the images?

  If so – you can use these steps:

  – Create a new post
  – Add a gallery to the post with the images you want to use
  – Set the Post Format to Gallery

  Now, when that post is published, you should see a nice slider, like on the demo site!
