Customising the Photographer theme

Hi, I just purchased the Photographer theme, and it doesn’t seem to display like the demo does. my posts are displayed individually, in a vertical layout, not the single, horizontal layout with clickable arrows to get to the next photo.

I also want to get rid of all the elements displayed except the content and the header and menus. At the moment, my page looks like this http://www.picketfencesprod.com

what can i do to make it look like this? http://www.kimberlyshootsphotos.com thanks!

Have you tried following these instructions from the theme page:

Photographer features a Home Page Template that displays a slideshow of Featured Images from any post category specified in the Theme Options.

Try setting that up and once it is done let us know if there are still elements on the front page that you want to be hidden with CSS – and which ones they are!

Thanks, hallluke, i have tried uploading jpegs in the media gallery and used one as a feature image, but it does not appear on the preview. Am i only allowed to upload one feature image per post? How do i achieve this slideshow style? http://www.kimberlyshootsphotos.com simple like this, without boarder and all.

    Cheers!

    Hi Ed,

I haven’t tested it but from the description it seems like the slideshow is formed of the featured images from multiples posts (then clicking on the image takes you to view the entire post on it’s own page).

In order for this to happen you have to set the category of posts you want to use from the Customizer. At the moment you only have one post, it doesn’t appear to have a featured image set and it’s also only in the “uncategorised” category.

I would suggest creating a category called “featured” and then when you create more posts, set a featured image for them and put them in this category and select it for the slideshow in Appearance > Theme Options.

There is a guide on the theme support page and as it’s a premium theme there is also a dedicated forum so if you’re still stuck try asking there too!
