Customising the text a user sees after submitting a contact form

  I have created a page on my blog which holds a contact form. My newsletter signup form. I have added it to a menu and also used it as a widget in my sidebar. All works perfectly. However, the user experience is not great. When a user enters their name and email and hits submit they are left seeing the text they just submitted. A better UX would be to server the user a Thank you message. Is this possible?
