customizations won't appear after saved.

When I go to customize my page, everything is set up perfectly and I hit draft saved. When I exit out of it, my menu bar and side bar aren’t changed whatsoever? Am I doing something wrong?

Your Page and Menu bar are two different things,
Content which you write on a page/post is part of your page which differs from page to page whereas menubar, sidebar, and footer are part of your website which can’t be edited while editing page, you need to visit customize option in order to edit sidebar or menubar.
