customize button breakdown

  Hello, everything goes along fine – I choose a template then “appearance – themes” and am presented with a blue button “customize” when I click on customize the process ends there – I either get an “error 404” page or some other page that I can’t get past – what can I do – I have Windows 8, Internet explorer – thank you
