customize options unavailable

    Hi there,

    I purchased your IPPO theme for my blog and I want to customize the design but I don’t seem to have the full range of customize options available. When I see the examples on your website they have completely customized elements that do not appear as options on the wordpress “customize theme” page.

    See attached images for a screen shots of the customize options available.
    I’ve outlined below 3 of the main issues that I would like to resolve.

    The images displayed in the Instagram widget in the bottom of the page – How can I make them a uniform size?

    How can I change the front page background colour – to match the blog post pages background colour?

    There is no option to change any other background colour or font colour.

    How can I customize the background and fonts colours?

    The menu bar at the top is not visible at all with the full screen image behind it – how can I make a flat line of colour behind the menu text?

    Also how can I apply the frame outlines as shown here?

    Hi there,

    The Advanced Design Customization features are apart of the Premium and Business upgrades, see here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

    Here is a bit more info on what is included: https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/

    The demo is probably using these features in order to create the most complete looking package.

    The images displayed in the Instagram widget in the bottom of the page – How can I make them a uniform size?

    I believe they will layer in like a mosaic as you add more images, but if you wanted to adjust all of the image heights you could do the following (granted, you will need access to the Advanced Design feature and add this code to the Additional CSS tab that would be added to your customize section):

    .wpcom-instagram-images a img {
        height: 30em;
    }

    Adjusting that height value would set all the images heights, but it may affect their aspect ratio and cause some images to distort a bit, so try to keep the images roughly the same aspect ratio.

    How can I change the front page background colour – to match the blog post pages background colour?

    This code should do the trick. Though, if you add the Advanced Design features it may come included in the custom colors section:
    .fullwidth-slider .site-content {
    background-color: #f4eae5;
    }

    There is no option to change any other background colour or font colour.

    How can I customize the background and fonts colours?

    These are a part of the Advanced Design features, you could also hand code them with CSS which is available with the Advanced Design features.

    The menu bar at the top is not visible at all with the full screen image behind it – how can I make a flat line of colour behind the menu text?

    This CSS would do that as well, change white to whatever color or hex code you desire:

    .fullwidth-slider .site-header {
        background-color: white;
    }

    Also how can I apply the frame outlines as shown here?

    These are actually quotes, go to this setup doc and scroll down to Quote Post Format for instructions: https://wordpress.com/theme/ippo/setup/

    The gist of it is:
    To create a quote:

    – Add a new Post and choose Quote from the Post Format module.
    – Select your desired text in the Visual Editor and click the Blockquote button.
    – To cite the quote author, write their name below the quote text, then switch to the HTML Editor and add <cite></cite> around the author’s name.

    Basically, all of this is possible a Premium upgrade which gives you access to the Advanced Design Customization feature.

    Hope this helps, feel free to reach out for more instruction if needed.

    Hi jjchrisdiehl,

    Thanks for your detailed reply! I guess I will have to upgrade then to make the changes. I think it would be good if WordPress made it clear on the template details that it will not be fully customisable unless you pay for the professional subscription. As currently that is not stated anywhere as far as I can see.

    Cheers!

    Please note, all of our theme demos are set up without a Premium or Business upgrade, so you should be able to set your theme up exactly like the demo without upgrading. Now, if you wanted further CSS customization that doesn’t come stock in the theme options, then you would need to upgrade to Premium to access the CSS Advanced Design module.

    Hope this helps!
