Customize theme and the actual site

I am new to using WordPress and am struggling with a couple things. I apologize if this is a useless problem with an obvious fix but I can’t seem to figure it out.

    1) I am using the theme flounder as my theme, I have chosen the colours I wanted, however, when I click on the URL for my website, the site is not same as it was in the customize/dashboard. I’m wondering I should do so my wanted theme would show when URL is clicked, unless it involves me being a certain type of subscriber.

    2) I would like my homepage of my website to be the “Welcome” tab of my website. How would I be able to make my homepage that page?

I understand my explanation of my problem is not the best, but would very appreciate if I had some assistance. Thank you for your time.

  • Hi nklee28,

    1. I’m seeing the Flounder Theme when I navigate to https://edu210natashalee.wordpress.com/. What specific differences are you seeing between the Customizer and the front end of the site?

    2. You can set your Welcome page as the static Front Page.

Let me know if that helps.

    Hello rwaynick,

    1. The Flounder theme is shown, however, the specific differences I am seeing between the Customizer and the front end of the site would be the colour. In the Customizer, the colours I have chosen are blue and grey; however, for the front end of the site, all of it is a charcoal colour.

    2. Thank you very much! I was able to figure out setting my Welcome page as the static Front Page with your instructions. I appreciate it very much!

  • nklee28,

    1. I’m seeing the blue and grey. Try and clear your browser’s cache or test with another browser.

    2. You’re welcome!

    rwaynick,

    1. Hmm. I tried testing my site with another browser and the colour that keeps appearing is the default colour of Flounder even though I chose a specific colour palette and saved/published it.

  • nklee28,

With the Free plan you are able to change the background color. The Premium Plan will give you access to more Custom Design options.
