Customize theme – fonts/colors don't display correctly

  • Unknown's avatar

I just purchased a custom theme. I have changed all the fonts and colors in the “customize” option and saved. When type in the url, it displays the default colors and fonts. When I click on “customize” from the dashboard, the custom fonts & colors that I’ve selected display.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

In order to make these changes permanent, you will need the Custom Design feature included in the WordPress.com Premium Plan:

If you read my question, you can see that I have used the custom design feature. When I am editing the design, everything g shows up correctly. I press “save” and it tells me it has saved. When I exit the preview & go to my actual blog, the default fonts and colors show. When I go back in to edit the custom settings, the fonts and colors I have selected appear again.

They are showing correctly when I am editing, but they are showing the default when I visit my blog.

You may be able to preview the effects of your customizations, but they will not go live on your site until you have a valid, active WordPress.com Premium Plan associated with your site, which you, at present, do not:

I have to pay $99 a year for custom fonts and colors? This was the entire reason I bought a premium theme. What would be the point otherwise? This is extremely frustrating, as EVERYTHING I’ve read around WordPress insinuated that premium themes came with the ability to change fonts and colors. If this is not the case, I wish WordPress verbiage were more precise.

Also, I feel that something in the “customize” section should alert bloggers to this in a more blatent fashion.

Never mind. I found the custom design option. $30/year. Much more reasonable. Thank you for the help. Sorry if my last post was snappy. I was feeling very frustrated. Have a good week.

If you’re not pleased with your Premium Theme purchase, I can remove it and refund the associated charge.

Premium Theme purchases are not required, and WordPress.com has an excellent selection of free themes here:
