customize title page
-
Trying to change “saved” text on header in “customizing”: It says “bearbeiten” (which is “change” in German) but clicking on that button nothing happens. so in fact I cannot reach the “change” option for my title page.
All other changes in the actual blogs work fine.
Also:
The complete “visual effects” are only visible when you work with two screens on top of each other. Possible on one (wide) screen? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
What is the exact text you are trying to change, and what would you like to change it to? That will help me understand what you are trying to change so I can walk you through that process. :)
The complete “visual effects” are only visible when you work with two screens on top of each other. Possible on one (wide) screen?
What visual effects are you trying to view? I’m not sure I understand the problem you are describing here.

There are three parts to my header : a kind of “Slogan” (“There is…”),
a Wikipedia quote (“The rose-ringed…”) and a comment on why the name (“With their…”). This last I’d like to change into a different font so as to make it distinct from the wikipedia part, and also to change some words.
Only on two screens can you get both full pictures – the “complete title effects”. You have to try it out on two screens which act as one stretched vertically. -
Post scriptum: I just noticed that only the last five blogs are being made available – is that the rule? How can I publish all of them all the time?

Aah – this is weird: when moving from here with this “logged-in” status to “customizing header” – hey presto – it worked! and note: it sticks to the enlarged font that I chose (??) – not logical and ergo: no real learning effect achieved.
And I found the “lost” blog in the archive section…
It cannot be listed with the others…? -
Hi there,
There are three parts to my header : a kind of “Slogan” (“There is…”),
a Wikipedia quote (“The rose-ringed…”) and a comment on why the name (“With their…”). This last I’d like to change into a different font so as to make it distinct from the wikipedia part, and also to change some words. That text is all part of the page you have set to be your site’s front page. To edit that specific page (rather than customizing how your site is designed as a whole), you can click the “Bearbeiten” link when you’re logged in and viewing your site:
There is no good life within the bad one. – Es gibt kein gutes Leben im schlechten.
When you are in your site’s Customizer, you can change how your site looks as a whole, but that “Bearbeiten” link is disabled so you won’t be able to edit that specific page from there. (Sorry for the confusion about that!)
Only on two screens can you get both full pictures – the “complete title effects”. You have to try it out on two screens which act as one stretched vertically.
Your site’s Custom Header Image is almost as tall as it is wide. (The dimensions are 2816 × 1872 pixels.) That means the image will appear very tall at the top of the page, and you will have to scroll down to see everything below it — it won’t all fit on one screen.
The theme you are using on your site recommends using a custom header image that is 1600 × 275 pixels. That way, it won’t be as tall and you will be able to see more text without having to scroll so far.
Post scriptum: I just noticed that only the last five blogs are being made available – is that the rule? How can I publish all of them all the time?
Currently, you don’t have a Posts page set up, so there isn’t a page where all of your blog posts appear. Instead, you are only seeing the 5 most recent posts listed in your Recent Posts Widget. There are two ways to change that:
1. You can open your site’s Customizer and go to the Widgets section. Click on “First Footer Sidebar” and then click on “Recent Posts” to edit that widget’s settings. Under “Number of posts to show:” you can change that from 5 to a larger number that will show more of your posts.
2. You can create a new page to act as the Posts page for your site. Then, in your site’s Customizer, you can go to the Static Front Page section and choose that page from the dropdown menu under “Posts page.” That way, you will have a page on your site that shows all of your blog posts. You can also find more information about setting that up in our guide to Set a Static “Home” Page (Front Page).
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

thanks a bundle for this bundle of infos…
I now begin to understand the difference in practice between “https” and “www” …. successfully changed the header texts.
it is all very time consuming and labourious, and thus a trifle – “consumer unfriendly”..? Better and easier to handle with an upgrade?
Especially the tricks with the pictures are almost impossible for me to follow:
How can I “shrink” pictures to be less space consuming? not possible?
Also: I tried to reposition the pictures in the blog “Football (2)” which proved to be virtually impossible.
why isn’t it possible to work on and change parts of a blog by working on the actual (published) view of the blog? I can change loads of stuff on the “work (“bearbeiten”) version which do not appear at all on the published version…
so – loads of questions – no time yet to try out all your suggested steps – frustrating state of affairs…
Thanks sincerely nevertheless – perhaps suggestions on how to minimize the time consuming parts….? -
Hi there,
The “Bearbeiten” link you see at the bottom of the text at https://psittaculabloginn.wordpress.com/ is a quick link to edit that text and other details that are specific to that page on your site. Anything you see there is the page editor.
Your site’s Customizer can be used to customize how your site looks as a whole — changes there will impact every page of your site, not just one page.
I hope that helps explain the difference between those two places to edit your site.
How can I “shrink” pictures to be less space consuming? not possible?
If you want to make the pictures smaller so they take up less space on the screen, you can use the Image Editing tools built in to WordPress.com, or you can use a photo editor on your computer to edit images before you upload them.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

Thank you once again – you have been most helpful!
I begin to realise why bloggers are either stinking rich or totally broke or have found a way to make a living out of their blog…
One last question (for the time being). I’d like to clear up my “mediathek” but haven’t found a way to erase material. Can you help me with that?
Cheers! -
Tried several times to change the “number of posts shown” as suggested in your first version – didn’t work.

Hi there,
I’d like to clear up my “mediathek” but haven’t found a way to erase material. Can you help me with that?
You can visit your Media Library (under Media > Library in your WP Admin dashboard) to see everything that is saved there. To delete an image, click on the image to view its details and then click the “Delete Permanently” link in the sidebar there.
Keep in mind that if you delete an image from the media library, that also deletes the image from your site. Only delete images that you aren’t using on your site anymore.
Tried several times to change the “number of posts shown” as suggested in your first version – didn’t work.
Can you describe the exact steps you took, and where you had trouble with them?
