Customize Tools

Customize tools such as background and static front page editing tools are not working, is this a common problem or is there a setting i can change?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Do understand that no changes you try out aside from those such as Custom Background, Custom Header and Theme Options which are stated on the theme description pages for each theme http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/sempress/ will be visible to visitors, unless you purchase an annually renewable custom design upgrade?

NOTE: If you do not have a CSS upgrade then skip using the theme customizer. All of the very same functions can be accessed from your dashboard.

Hi there, thanks for the help but despite trying to view the customisation tools for my blog on Safari and Google Chrome (latest versions) the page still freezes. I just want to be able to customise my background image to one that I have designed myself and where my front page lands. Up until this morning, this feature was working but has ceased to and the page just continues to freeze before loading any of the options. I have tried changing my theme, removing my background image and other such options but to no success.
I was just wondering if there is any way around this, otherwise I cannot maintain my blog in even the simplest of ways.

If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
Note: If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html
If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com please do these four things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache:
http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled: http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
3. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
4. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
If it’s still happening, let us know exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/ and also post any error reports you get.

I have tried with the up to date and latest version of google chrome and safari and checked them on whatbrowser with no error reports at all, I have emptied the cache and deleted any previous cookies, third party cookies are enabled also.
The customize page still continues to freeze for some reason.

Did you try:
With all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
Enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/ -

At Settings -> Reading in your blog’s Dashboard, you have chosen to use a static front page, but have no selected any.
You’ll need to selecte a page there, or switch back to “Your latest posts”.
-
The front page of the blog by default will display all of your published posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top.
If you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page called for example “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for posts.
To do that create two pages > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.
