Customized Styles is reset issue

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I have an issue with the customized styles. I accidentally adjusted the customized style and tried to reset them back to default, but it is still prompting Customized Styles is reset but I am still being I prompted to remove the customized styles when I am viewing my website out of editor’s mode. I clicked on the link on the popup on how to reset the custom styles, but it doesn’t do anything and the warning persists.

    How can I clear this?

    Thank you.

Hi there, if you enter in to the site editor (e.g. eportfoliodalenadang.wordpress.com/wp-admin/site-editor.php ) you should see a yellow bar at the top with a “remove custom styles” button. Clicking this should bring your site styles back to default.

    Hello,

I am having a similar issue. There is no yellow alert bar within the editor. However, when I enter the demo site I get the alert stating “Your site includes customized styles that are only visible to visitors after upgrading to the Premium plan or higher.” When I return to the editor, no yellow bar.

I am certain that I do not have any customized styles as I went and reset all to default. I even cycled through a few different themes to ensure I had a default style. The problem persists.

Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi @justinhanlon

Since this is a different issue from the one in the original post could you start a new topic here? Editor revisions are handled separately from custom style preferences so we would like to take a closer look in a separate post.

You can add a “modlook” tag if you’d like to get staff attention.

That way the people who have been working on this topic won’t get unwanted notifications as we troubleshoot your issue. Thanks!

Can certainly repost, but I think it’s the same issue, no? It’s related to custom styles because when I leave the editor using “view site” that’s when the alert pops up stating that “Your site includes customized styles that are only visible to visitors after upgrading to the Premium plan or higher.”

There is no alert in the editor, the alert only appears when viewing the demo site.

    No banner in the editor:

  • I’ve not been able to duplicate this yet.

    Can you both try something?

    • Try the same thing in another browser to see if you have the same message there.
      • If you do, please share the steps you used to get there (started on this link, clicked that, then it appeared, etc)
      • If you don’t see the error in another browser, can you try clearing the browser cache to see if that helps?

Thanks in advance for any more context you can provide!

I’ve the same problem … I can’t see reset to default in styles option (3 dots) but only welcome guide. How can I understand what style needs upgrading?

    https://wordpress.com/support/using-styles/#reset-all-styles

    Reset All Styles

You can undo the custom styles you have applied so your site returns to the default appearance.

In the Styles settings, click on the ellipses (three dots) and click Reset to defaults. This will undo all changes you have made to the Styles settings.

If you wish to reset Styles for specific elements only, click on Typography, Colors, Layouts, or Blocks first. You can then click on the ellipses (three dots) and click Reset to defaults to reset only your chosen element’s Styles.

You can also reset specific blocks to their defaults.

If Styles were never changed, the Reset to defaults option will appear greyed out.

  • Hi @marcospaggiari74 — I didn’t hear back from either of the others, and I wasn’t ale to duplicate the error with your site on my browser, so can you try these steps?

    • Try the same thing in another browser to see if you have the same message there.
      • If you do, please share the steps you used to get there (started on this link [send us the link please], clicked that, then it appeared, etc)
      • If you don’t see the error in another browser, can you try clearing the browser cache to see if that helps?

Thanks in advance for any more context you can provide!

I’m having the same issue, was this ever resolved?

  • Hey there @solerbb!

Are you able to follow the same troubleshooting steps above and let us know what you find!

I did all troubleshooting steps, cleared my cache multiple times, completely reset the site pages & templates that I customized, but I’m still getting the “Your site includes customized styles that are only visible to visitors after upgrading to the Premium plan or higher.” message. All I did was change a font within the “single page” template. Even after resetting and changing it back it’s still giving me that message.

I have the free plan so I can’t use a plug in to clear the cache; I genuinely don’t know what the problem could be.

    Hi @solerbb

It’s entirely possible there’s a bug somewhere that we just need to identify so that our developers can fix it. I checked the site editor on your site but didn’t see the message as shown on your screenshot. If you still see this, could you please copy the URL from the browser’s address bar (on the page where you see it) and share it with us so that we know exactly where to go to see this?

    Thanks!

It’s on every page of my website; it is only visible to me when I’m logged into my account. It’s not there when I go into Editor mode but is there when I preview or view a page or post from the entire site. https://solerbean.wordpress.com/content-writing-portfolio/

  • Hey there,

    Many thanks for that information!

Interestingly, I’m unable to replicate that behaviour. You mentioned that this is present on preview pages, to check, does happen before or after the page is published?

Additionally, are you able to provide the exact link of where you’re seeing that message please? This will help us to track down what is happening.

    Many thanks in advance!
