Customized Theme Will Not Load

I selected the Lens theme and customized everything to my liking. However, when I click ‘Save’ it says: ‘saving changes..’ then ‘Your design is published!’ but then when I click on the ‘X’ underneath the ‘Saved’ button, it takes me out of the design I just created and back to the default theme. How do I get it to save and upload what I just designed/created????

Do you have the Custom Design upgrade? You can’t save the changes in the Customizer unless you do.
I wish they’d put a pop up in there to tell people that.

Also, if you do, and it saves the changes, do not click the X. Just click the link to the front page of the blog.

so you’re saying after purchasing the theme itself, i must then pay again to customize it? wow.

Yes, that’s exactly the case. The theme customizer lets you preview changes that cannot be seen on the blog until your purchase the upgrade. See here for details on purchasing the annually renewable custom and CSS editing:
