Customizer doesn’t work & Error message-account isn’t activated.
-
I started a new blog yesterday and have had a lot of trouble. My Contact Me page has disappeared. My Customizer will not load—I tried it on 3 different devices, on 3 different browsers, and even in the app. And, even though I activated my account yesterday, I get an error message that the account isn’t activated yet whenever I try to visit the homepage. It says to contact support—so I await your help.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m tagging this for staff to take a look at the issue for you. I believe you said the site was renamed from goldengirl.home.blog to goldengirl.wordpress.com when this happened. Let’s see if they can fix things and get you going again!
-
Yes, thanks Darci!
I was able to change the name today and that’s when all the trouble started. Wasn’t given the option of picking a wordpress.com site yesterday, which I thought was weird.

Hi there,
My Contact Me page has disappeared
Your contact page can be found at https://goldengirl.wordpress.com/contact/ and I also see it on your main menu.
My Customizer will not load
I get an error message that the account isn’t activated yet
I can’t upload any images to my site, and can’t add any pages or posts. All of these work without any issues on my end. Can you please log-out and log back into your account and let me know if you’re still having any trouble with it?

Around 1pm I visited goldengirl.wordpress.com and got the same message as before.
“goldengirl.wordpress.com has not been activated yet.
If you are having problems activating your site, please contact WordPress.com Support.”Then I signed in and everything was fine. I swapped around a few things, and around 3:30 pm, while signed into my account still, I got that error message again, that my account is not activated.
I STILL NEED HELP FROM STAFF!!!

When @darciemg posted three hours ago your site displayed fine for me. Now I see
goldengirl.wordpress.com has not been activated yet.
If you are having problems activating your site, please contact WordPress.com Support. So there is definitely a glitch here. I’ve tagged this thread to ask if a member of staff could have a closer look.

Hi there, Sorry for your troubles. Staff will return to this thread when they look in on the forums. Keeping in mind that this is a holiday in most places, Staff replies may be slower than usual. Thanks for your patience.

Your site displays for me today. However, I would have expected the site address you changed from goldengirl.home.blog would display an “the authors have deleted the site” message but that URL redirects to the .home.blog front page.
-
Nope, not happening for me. I’m seeing
goldengirl.wordpress.com has not been activated yet.
If you are having problems activating your site, please contact WordPress.com Support. -
How odd. It was fine just one hour ago. Now I’m back with:
goldengirl.wordpress.com has not been activated yet.
If you are having problems activating your site, please contact WordPress.com Support.I’m curious to know what is actually broken here.

Looks like that when you changed your address from goldengirl.home.blog you managed to get an address (goldengirl.wordpress.com) that is already owned by a different account. That’s the reason why you’re getting this error.
I’m already investigating this with our Systems team and I’ll get back to you with a solution. The bottom line is that you’ll have to either change back to your previous address or get a new one.
-
Yes, it’s crazy that keeps happening randomly. As a FYI, when I created the site I checked first and there wasn’t another blog with that name. Looking forward to finally getting an answer.
-
Ok I just did a search and my blog was found at:
https://goldengirl.home.blog and not goldengirl.wordpress.comHowever, the link to it was listed as:
https://goldengirlhome2.wordpress.comWhat is going on???
-
Our Systems team reverted to the address you previously used to resolve the conflict (goldengirl.home.blog). The .wordpress.com address you’re seeing is just the internal address only visible to you. All WordPress.com sites must have a .wordpress.com address even if they use a custom domain or .blog subdomain.
If you want to use a different address than goldengirl.home.blog you can go to the following page and change it:
https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/goldengirl.home.blog/edit/goldengirl.home.blog
If you want to remove the .home.blog part you can register a custom domain by going to this page:
https://wordpress.com/domains/add/
If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.
