Customizer suggested image headers missing

Opened the Customizer and 6 of the 7 suggested header thumbnails for my theme show as broken images. I can still activate them, but the header thumbnails don’t show. Not sure how I can attach a screenshot?

In general it seems the Customizer is having issues.

I don’t have any upgrades and have been using the featured color palette (green and off-white). Today I added a site logo in the Customizer. While I was there I viewed the site without the title and tagline and suddenly the title color went from green to orange and wouldn’t change back even after trying to switch back to the featured color palette. I exited without saving the changes.

Anyone have any idea of what’s going on?

  • Howdy –

You can add the screen shot to your media library and I’ll be able to take a look at it.

It might be helpful to clear your browser cache:

Let me know if that does the trick.

Hello! The missing suggested headers has resolved itself.

The other issue I mentioned on the change in site title color from green to orange is still happening when I re-enable the display of the site title and tagline after hiding it. This time I saved and exited the Customizer and happily the site title color was still green.

So it seems it’s something in the Customizer itself. I’ve uploaded screenshots here so you can see what I mean, but since no actual change occurred after saving, I guess this is resolved from my side.

  • Hi –

Thank you for the screen shots. I am able to see the same orange text on my end as well. I am working with this team to figure out the cause and I’ll post an update here as soon as I have an update.

  • If you uncheck and recheck the box for site title and tagline display option the customizer will show the titles default color. Your site is still going to show the custom color and your custom color will appear the next time you open the site. You can check this by looking at the site in a new browser tab.

Thanks for the follow up and explanation. It’s still confusing, but now we know the reason.

It becomes even more confusing if while still in the Customizer you go back and select one of the other featured color palettes because the title stays orange.

  • No problem. If you open the site in an additional browser tab while you work in the Customizer you’ll see that the orange is only displaying in the customizer and not on the site.

Not to be persnickety, but doesn’t that sort of defeat the purpose of the Customizer?

If the issue is only on my site, or I’m the only one stumped by this behavior, it’s truly not worth dev time. Thanks anyway for your help.

  • Not to be persnickety, but doesn’t that sort of defeat the purpose of the Customizer?

Yes, this behavior is odd. The only time you should see this is when you check and uncheck the box to include the site title, correct? Is that your experience as well?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Yes, that is correct.

However, the site title color remains orange even if I leave Site Identity and return to Colors & Background and select a different featured color palette. That’s what I was trying to explain earlier and apparently wasn’t too successful at it. :)

  • Thank you for clarifying. I’ve filed a report of the bug for this theme.
