  Hi intuitivetoya,

  To change the background color of your site, go to the customizer: My Sites > Customize
  Once in the customizer, click on Colors & Backgrounds on the left hand sidebar. Here you can pick whichever background color suits your needs.

  If you upgrade to a WordPress.com Premium Plan or Business Plan, you can customize your site even further!
