Customizing a Header Image

    Having issues adding a header that I hope someone can help me with. When I am in Appearance > Header, it says I can upload an image and crop it to the right size, or images of exactly 978 × 288 pixels will be used as-is.

    So, I created an image that was 978×288 and uploaded it to my site. When I clicked upload, I was asked to crop it, and there was no way that the full image I created could be displayed. Way too wide.

    I reduced the width of the image by 200 pixels, and adjusted the height accordingly, uploaded that, and I had exactly the same issue but with a smaller image.

    I’m using iTheme2. Any ideas what might be going on here? What am I doing wrong?
