Customizing a menu

  Hi Happiness Engineer!
  I have 3 questions.
  1. How do I add ‘blog’ to my menu?
  2. How do I change the word ‘blog’ to ‘inspiring articles’?
  3. How can I change the color of the background from black to something else? (does my current package allow this?)

  1. How do I add ‘blog’ to my menu?
  2. How do I change the word ‘blog’ to ‘inspiring articles’?

  Follow these steps to do this:
  1. Create a separate home page(this is optional, name it “Home”) and blog page(name it “Inspiring Articles”) by following this guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/
  2. Go to My Site(s) → Customize(Beside the Themes option) or just click here: https://wordpress.com/customize/. This will open the Site Customizer.
  3. On the sidebar of the Customizer click on Static Front Page.
  4. On the Front page displays section, select A static page,
  5. Now, from the Posts page dropdown menu select the page Inspiring Articles(This will put all the blog posts into the Inspiring Articles page) and for the Front page dropdown menu, select “Home”(Optional).
  6. Finally, click Save & Publish.
   

  3. How can I change the color of the background from black to something else? (does my current package allow this?)

  1. Go to My Site(s) → Customize(Beside the Themes option) or just click here: https://wordpress.com/customize/. This will open the Site Customizer.
  2. On the sidebar of the Customizer click on Colors & Backgrounds.
  3. Choose a color from the Choose a Palette section.

  If your site does not have the option, then it probably because you theme does not support colors schemes.

  In that case you will need to do this by customizing the CSS codes and this feature is a part of the paid WordPress.COM Premium and Business plans. So let us know if you are on any one of these plans so that we an provide you the CSS code to change the background color.
