Customizing choices not saving.

No. These steps don’t work for me.
As I said in my last post, I have repeatedly done the very thing you have asked of me in your above post. I have clicked on the default then I have changed the header text then I have saved it. After saving it I have then clicked on cancel. The changes are not saved.
And no, I have not forgotten to click save at the end.
Now, whether it is a bug causing the page to remain as a featured palette I have no idea. But what I can tell you is that I have been doing the same thing over and over and its not making any difference.

Hi there,
Sorry for the frustration — You mentioned before that your blog was stuck on the white/beige palette, and it’s now on the first grey palette, so it looked like your changes were indeed saved. I thought perhaps the changes were saved but the settings just needed to be tweaked to make them work. I’m sorry for that misunderstanding, and for the time it took me to figure out where exactly in the process the problem was popping up.
I’m checking with our team to see what’s going on here — if there is a bug causing the featured palettes to stick in this theme, we’ll squash it! I’ll get you an update about this as soon as I have more information.

Yes, it is true that the white/beige palette was there for a while. Now it’s on grey so palette changes seem to be occurring somewhere down the line.
I think the main problem is the presence of white text on the header and clicking on “Default” – neither of which save. That has remained consistent.

So what was your solution?
For me this is what happened: I was using default color option for the theme, then I just messed around a bit and changed the header color (no upgrade or custom design). Then I tried to change back to the default color (black header, red links, etc.), but it would not save and everything (the header, links) was gray.
Thanks for any help!

Yes, that’s exactly my experience.
All I know was that it was a bug and that it was squashed – don’t know the details. Hopefully rachelmcr will come back to you on this and do the same for you.

Hi jamespruch, our team is still trying to track down this bug, but we have worked out a way around the issue for now:
- Go to Appearance > Customize > Custom Design and click the “Try Now” button
- Click Colors
- Click Default
- Click Save
- Click Custom Design
- Click “exit the preview”
- Check blog front end and the default colors should be back
Please give that workaround a try and let me know if you have any questions. :)

Hi there,
I wanted to let you know that our team fixed this bug, so now you can switch back to the default colors normally. Thanks again for reporting the issue! If you continue to have trouble with it, please us know. :)

I’m not wanting to go back to default, but I am also having trouble with making the changes. It’s on the standard customisation, not the one you pay for, and it happily saves changes such as a header picture, but when I’m in appearance customisation mode the writing of the blog looks lighter and more visible against the dark purple background, and the header is white. when I exit customisation, the writing of the blog switches to a darker grey and the header goes to dark green, which is impossible to see against the background colour. I’m clicking save and everything, it just changes when I exit customisation. blog is jrgarbutt.wordpress.com

@jgarbutt Carefully read the instructions at http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design on how to use the Customizer features.
If you keep having problems, please send me a screenshot, so I can better understand the issue. You can simply upload the screenshot to your Media Library, like any other image, and I’ll be able to access it from there.
The page at the following link has some helpful tips for taking screenshots:

thanks for the reply. it wasn’t the custom design add-on that was the problem as I don’t have that, simply the free option where you can pick limited changes, but I decided to try a different colour scheme and this has saved fine, so it is no longer a problem! Thanks though.
