Customizing Contact Form
-
I am using the contact form on one of my pages. I was wondering if there was a way to customize it. I don’t really need the “website” field as I am not using the site as a blog. I fear that the field could be too confusing to the people that would use it.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can put an introduction before the contact form code stating that “website” is not required.
Typically this is not something that can be done through the paid CSS upgrade as the three fields are normally controlled by the same section of the CSS which means if you were to hide one, you hide them all.
-
And “Website” only appears if your visitors are not signed into WordPress.COM. If they are signed in, the information is automatically transferred together with the email account under which they registered.

i’m not getting messages through my contact form. any suggestions on what may be causing this? how to fix it? thanks

First off, check that you are monitoring the correct email address. The one that wordpress will send the contacts to is listed under settings > general.
Secondly, check your email spam filter to make sure that the emails from wordpress are not getting caught. If they are, then you might need to whitelist them.
Since you did not include a link to your blog, I cannot even go there and send you a test from the contact page. Please either link your username to your blog URL (#2 in yellow sticky post at top of main forum page – yellow section) or include the address of your blog when asking questions.
