Customizing CSS for someone else

I’m making a customized blog for a friend by changing the CSS code on one of the blog templates (Kubric). I have it looking exactly how I want. I decided to paste the CSS code into my own blog and preview it, just to test it & see how it does (because my friend will be pasting it into her own blog). When I do that, it looks messed up. Is that because my blog template is different from Kubric? Will I have to have my friend change her blog to Kubric before pasting the CSS code to make it work? Or is there some other reason this is not working? Thanks.

Are you talking about a wordpress.COM blog? I can’t tell because the site linked in your user name is not hosted here at wordpress.COM

The designers for each theme decided on what they are going to call things in their themes, and in most cases they are not the same. In other words, CSS is theme specific. It is very seldom you can use the CSS from one theme with another, unless that them was designed by the same author and the author kept the names of the selectors and stuff the same.

Ah, okay. So, I need to change the theme first. Thanks.
