Customizing dates

  Hi there- I am considering purchasing a personal plan and have a specific question before I begin. When writing a blog, can I customize the entry date, so I can back date it back a few years? Also, Can I decide how the entries are organized, such as not listing the entries as ‘most recent’ first on the list? I want to transfer blog posts from a free google site and that site does not allow customized (back dating) entry dates. It was super frustrating and I would like to avoid that. Thanks so much!

  You actually have the option to backdate posts even on free WordPress.com sites, no upgrade needed: https://wordpress.com/support/schedule-a-post-or-page/#backdating

  By default that is how posts are displayed (newest to oldest) but there can be some ways around that. However, it can vary based on the situation and even the theme you are using. SO that we’re sure to understand, can you tell us a bit more about what you are trying to set up? Are you trying to display posts in more of a “chapter” format where it goes in order from your first (oldest) post to your last (newest) post instead?

  Or did you have something else in mind like spliting your blog into several categories and displaying each of those on pages of their own?

  Also we’re happy to answer any questions you have about the personal plan, but I think the primary reason why it’s a worthwhile upgrade is that it gives you the option to use a custom site address instead of one with “WordPress.com” in it. Another nice perk is that it turns off the ads we show on free sites, which some folks find annoying.

  Worth noting that if you choose the Yearly option, in addition to being cheaper in the long run, we also provide a free domain for the first year if you don’t already have one.
