Customizing eLearning/eAcademy Theme from Themegrill
-
Can someone help me customize my page header for hypnobodi.com?
Currently, I have a hero image with text & button overlay on top.
But, There is a white background behind the menu and logo. Plus, a grey band inbetween the Hero image and menu area.
I’d like to have the Hero Image begin at the very top of the browser window, so the navigation menu and logo are overlaid on top.
I want it to look like this demo’s header: https://stax.organicthemes.com/
At the very least, I’d like to get rid of that grey strip.
The theme does not currently support this feature, but I have access to custom CSS. Is there a bit of code I could paste that would accomplish this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @raw51,
It’s correct that our support for third-party themes is limited, which you can learn more about in this support guide: https://wordpress.com/support/plugins/get-help-with-plugins-and-themes/.
Instead, we suggest contacting the theme’s developer who would be able to better assist you. I was able to locate their support page, here: https://masteriyo.com/support/.
Please let us know if you have any questions on this!

Ok, I see.
Is Astra theme also considered a third party theme? Are you able to provide support for that one?
I’m considering switching my theme to Astra or Tsubaki. I plan on using the Masteriyo LMS plugin.

Hi again @raw51!
You are correct that the Astra theme would also be a third-party theme. That being said, Tsubaki is not!
One way to help determine whether we can support the theme you are considering would be to click directly on the theme and scroll down to the support section. For example, the Astra theme: https://wordpress.com/theme/astra, scrolling down, you can see that for support with this theme, you can contact the theme developer instead.
Feel free to share with us what you’re looking for in a theme, and we’d be happy to share some options with you, if you’d like!

Thanks!
Primary goal is simplicity (less management on my end) and fast loading speeds for SEO.
– Looks like Automattic theme updates are auto-completed, whereas the other themes I would have to manually update?Secondary goal is plugin integration so I can offer e-courses and digital downloads. (No physical products.)
– Masteriyo for LMS
– Yoast probably for SEO
– Woocommerce maybe added later
– Bunny net plugin for images and videos, hoping to increase speedLast is design.
– Startfitter has the homepage header I was hoping for
– Astra and Tsubaki look like good alternatives.
– Not wanting to compromise speed/SEO for design though. If you have any recommendations or info that could help me with this decision, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi again @raw51,
Thank you for sharing all of this information with us. This is very helpful!
To start, you are correct that any WordPress.com theme will update automatically. Additionally, any theme that’s a part of the WordPress.org repository will also automatically update. You can take a look at all of these themes here: https://wordpress.org/themes/. We also have a support guide with more information on updating plugins and themes, here: https://wordpress.com/support/plugins/update-a-plugin-or-theme/.
Since you’re using the Business plan, you have the option of using plugins, which is great for your goals. You also mentioned creating courses on your site, so I wanted to mention the Sensei LMS plugin, which you may be interested in. This allows you to create online courses, lessons and quizzes, which you can learn more about here: https://wordpress.com/support/introduction-to-sensei-lms/.
Overall, it’s great to hear that you’re considering both design and speed/ SEO for your theme. If you’re looking for assistance from us with your theme and customizations, I would suggest choosing a theme developed by us. Startfitter, for example, is a great theme and uses the Site Editor, which allows for more flexibility and customization options.
The Tsubaki theme is also a great option. The design of this theme highlights products and WooCommerce features.
Some other themes you may be interested in taking a look at would be the Aether theme or the Kentwood theme. You can also preview a theme before you activate it by following these steps: https://wordpress.com/support/themes/changing-themes/#preview-a-theme.
Please let me know if you have any questions on this!
