Customizing Excerpts
-
With the new post dashboard, where do I find the space to customize my excerpts for the Goran theme?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello Ashley,
Are you asking how to style them? Go to http://wordpress.com/customize/ and then select Custom Design (this is a feature of WordPress.com’s Premium or Business plans). Use the CSS Editor to add code to your site — you could do something like the following:
.entry-excerpt p { font-style: italic; } -
No, not style them. WordPress under the old post dashboard allowed us to customize our excerpts. These customized excerpts would end up on the post page instead of the first couple of lines from the post. Right now, with the new layout for writing posts that function is gone.

Gotcha. Go edit a post you want to manually add an excerpt to and scroll down the left-hand column.

Pages use to contain excerpts. I used them prior to this under the old dashboard. Example: Goran, which I have used from day one, puts pages on the homepage. Those pages had an excerpt function so that the page’s writing wouldn’t show up beneath the picture. Now, with the new dashboard- it is gone. I need a way to get it back, or a code to fix the problem.

Go to https://ashleyspriggle.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page and edit the page in question. Click on the Screen Options pull down and check to see if there is an Excerpt listed. Is there one?
If there is, make sure it’s checked on and then look on your page edit screen for the Excerpt area.
