Customizing Front-Page Featured Pages

    Hello, is there anyway we can modify the front-page featured pages to not display the entire text of the linked page on the home page, but rather a small snippet of description so that it links to the actual page with more text? Right now when I try to add a featured page to the front page, it takes the entire text with it, bogging down my home page and making the picture uneven. Thank you.
