Customizing: How to change the image for each page on your blog?

How do you have a different image for each page?

    Hello!

    I actually have 2 questions:

I have created a WordPress blog for the sole purpose of creating an online professional portfolio (I am an educator, not a designer/photographer). I have found great support on how to create a static website from a blog on WordPress and have been able to add my own image to my chosen theme, but: Is there a way to change pictures for each page?

Also, I want my website secure and not at all “searchable” or visible except to those whom I give the address. I believe I have found a way to do this, but I want to make sure that I shouldn’t add a password to each page. What is the best way to make my site private?

    Thank you!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

the way i worked out how to do this was to chose a theme with customized headers… if you search themes by using the filter thingy then you can tick a box which shows you all the themes with that option.

then when you’re creating a page or writing a new post theres an option down the bottom of the page to set featured images

Yes, your site is private. Only people you invite can view it.

Some themes allow multiple random custom headers. Others will allow a featured image from a post to be seen on those posts.

Your site is now private so as a volunteer I cannot see which theme you are using. I don’t recall now which themes allow the featured image to appear as the header of a post. Sorry. Perhaps another volunteer will know that.

Is there a way to make it so that users that do not have a WordPress account can see my site?

I see now that many themes can have custom headers so you can do the pictures at random on the pages… is there a way to make the pictures NOT randomly (static on each page)?

It’s a private blog. That means only those you invite can view it and they must have accounts. http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/#invite-people-to-view-your-private-blog

The software has to able to distinguish between those with accounts who are logged in and those who are hackers seeking access. Consider that if that was not the case then “private” would be a meaningless setting as anyone could view the blog.

Yes, but it’s theme dependent. Please go here and read:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/custom-header-image/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/custom-header-image/#supported-themes

Featured images allow for even greater customization, giving you the option to display unique custom header images for specific posts and pages.

    Add a featured image

This question has been mostly resolved; thank you!

Also, I meant to send this question to wordpress.com employees, but it was posted to this public forum (obviously). It helped, but is there a way now to delete it? I do not want the initial post on this public forum.

    Thanks.
