Customizing my theme

    Hi,

I am using the Neo-Sapien theme and have a blog hosted by WordPress. Neo-sapien has a documented problem whereby in the version WordPress provides, the two right hand columns drop to the bottom and left margin, under the blog. You’d probably suggest I change themes, but I need a red & black theme and I really really like this one (it’s really the only red/black one).

There is an updated theme on the author’s web site that I could download. However….and here’s my question….to use this, would I have to have someone else host my blog, then download the theme, modify it with something like Dreamweaver (which I have) and continually upload changes?

Is that how it works when you use an externally downloaded theme?

Yes, that is how it works.

Thats why http://wordpress.org is for which I found is more fun.

Thanks everyone for your replies and suggestions. I think I would rather go the WordPress.org route than switch themes…I really like the Neo-Sapien template the best.

However, before I do that, I may download the theme that fixes the problem from the author’s site, see if it’s a problem I can fix by modifying the CSS, and then just do that right from the dashboard.

Anybody see a problem with that?

No, but it would be a good idea just to try it with the free preview feature on the CSS editor, rather than paying the money for the upgrade and then finding you can’t get it to work.
