Customizing Ryu won't save Gravatar header image

I changed our theme to Ryu, and I wanted a photo of us to show in the circle at the top of the front page. I uploaded one to Gravatar, and it took. I returned to “Customize” and I made sure to:
- Set the Gravatar in the “Theme Options” tab of “Customize” to the email address I selected the Gravatar for.
- Select the photo in the “Header” tab to be the Gravatar image (which automatically populated as a suggested header).
When I follow these steps, our Gravatar shows up in the circle. Cute! I click Save at the bottom of the Customize sidebar: photo still there. I click X at the bottom of the Customize sidebar: photo gone. :-(
I have tried clearing my browser cache, and I have tried viewing our blog in Firefox for Mac instead of Chrome for Mac. I have also tried viewing our blog in the WordPress app for Android. The photo doesn’t show up in any of them. Yet, when I go back to Customize, there it is again, and when I quit Customize, there it goes.
BTW: I took a screenshot to prove to you it shows when I’m in Customize, but I can’t seem to post it here.

Sorry to hear about the problems you’ve had with this. I was able to get your Gravatar image to show up again by going to Appearance -> Header in your blog’s admin panel:

and clicked on “Restore Original Header Image”.
The way the Ryu theme works, is it picks up the Gravatar image associated with the email address of the blog’s administrator or, if an email address is entered under “Gravatar” in Customizer -> Theme Options, it follows that one instead.
Should you decide to show a different image in your Header, simply go to back to Appearance -> Header and remove the header image then restore it.

Thank you, Druesome. I forgot there was another way to make the change. I guess the Customize panel isn’t behaving. Nice to see the pic now!
