customizing the navigation menu

There’s a certain page link that I can’t get to leave my navigation menu. I’ve indicated that its parent should be a different page, and that it what shows up on my “Pages” list. However, it is still appearing in my main navigation menu. (It’s the “pacificorp” link. It’s one of the entries in my portfolio; I don’t want it to be on the main nav menu.)

I also can’t figure out how to get my blog to appear in my navigation menu. Basically, where it says “pacificorp” now, I want it to say “blog.”

Thanks for any help you can provide!

  • Hi there. Any page you publish will appear on the menu by default. The only way to prevent a page from appearing is by creating a custom menu and displaying that instead of the default menu. On a custom menu you can remove published pages from displaying, you can re-order and create child pages simply by dragging and dropping, and you can add internal and external links to your menu. See here for complete instructions how to do that:

To have a separate page displaying your blog feed, do the following:
Create a new page and title it “Blog”. Publish the page, but do not add any content.

Next, go to Settings ->Reading and next to the option “Posts Page” select the page you just created. Save settings.

Lastly, go to your custom menu to make sure that page appears and re-order it the way you want.

Let us know if you need any more help with this.
