Customizing title on post pages in Academica Theme

  • Unknown's avatar

    I currently have titles turned off on my post pages, and instead have customized the div.single h2 tag for a manually entered title which appears flat up against the top of the embedded video on the page.

    Ideally, I would like to be able to
    1. customize the css title for the post pages (to match/replace above)
    2. re-enable the titles on for the post pages

    Hope this makes sense.

    Here is an example of how I have the manually entered title appear on a post page https://game-of-thrones-episodes.com/2017/07/02/season-7/

    Notice how it looks on the front page. There is a duplication. By turning the titles back on (and matching the css to what I have done with the div.single h2 tag seems to make sense. The problem I have, however, is positioning the title exactly where I want it.

    SacredPath, can you help me?

    Here is another link of what I have done.

    Notice how the manually entered title appears on all 60 episode pages. I would like to keep the div.single h2 style for these pages (scroll down the page to see them), but it would be much easier if I could use the title of the post (and not have it turned off), and have it appear exactly where I have manually entered the title above the embedded video.

    Hi dnnlldd,

    If you could please re-enble the post titles, we can then take a look at them for you and help you with the CSS to change their appearance.

    I’m pasting the current title CSS below so that whoever helps you with this in the future can easily reference it:

    div.single h2 {
    font-size: 20px;
    font-weight: 600;
    line-height: 1.55;
    clear: both;
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0;
    padding-left: 10px;
    background-color: #3A678D;
    color: #fff
    }

    Hi ellybiddle,

    I just re-enabled the post titles.

    I am messing things up, and in the process changing a few things. So I hope no one is working on this. If you are let me know ASAP, so I don’t have you wasting your time…

    The problem I had was putting the background color in. The container for the title goes across the whole page, and can’t be tucked into the center column. So I am thinking about doing away with the color background for the title.

    Another problem which I will need help, is that some of the changes I am making is affecting other pages (i.e.. category pages, and archive pages). So we might have to clean some things up.

    I am going to close this thread. I can’t find anyway to delete it. I screwed things up and am going to start over. I will open up another thread.

    Sorry. :(

    I did manage to put this code in to decrease space between header and body of the post.

    #header {
    	padding-bottom: 20px;
    }

    .column-title, #content .column-full, .column-full .column-content, .page-template-template-full-width-php .column-content {
    	  margin-top: -30px;
    	  padding-bottom: 10px;
    }

    I decided to keep this thread open after all. I think I am making progress. I hope, at least, I am.

    So here is where we stand currently.

    I can’t seem to change the font of the post title to match what I previously had in the blue area

    Are you talking about the “New Season 7 Trailer” text above the video? If so, that is an h1 with a class of title-header, so if you wish to style that, you would start with the folllowing.

    .title-header {
      color: #0c5390;
    }

    You can add additional declarations as needed. If I’ve misunderstood, please let me know and point out exactly which text it is you are wanting to change.
