Customizing tools are not loading
-
After purchasing the upgrade, I’ve found that the customizing tools are not longer working. They do not load at all. Also, I can not preview any other themes….
I’ve read a view similar posts and thought the problem was a unpublished page, draft etc, but I cannot find the anything wrong. I’ve now deleted all my categories and pages in hope that it would eliminate the problem, but no…
Does anybody have a solution? Thank you

If that does not do the trick then you will need to work through what follows and report back to us.
1. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
2. If you are using an IE browser in compatibility mode please disable that mode. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html
3. If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/
(a) Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
If applicable see here for instructions on how to clear the cache for Chrome and Safari on the iPad:
http://browsers.about.com/od/howtousemobilebrowser1/ss/safari-ipad-clear-cache.htm
http://browsers.about.com/od/howtousemobilebrowser1/ss/How-To-Clear-Browsing-Data-In-Chrome-For-Ipad_6.htm(b) Make sure that you have both third-party cookies enabled and JavaScript enabled
http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12654(c) Disable all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily.
(d) Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
Add both *.wordpress.com and *.wp.com to your list of trusted sites under the Security tab. Make sure to uncheck the box for “Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone.” http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/#frequently-asked-questions
4. Try using another browser.
5. If you are not successful let us know:
(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/
(c) And what any error reports you receive state. -
WOw, thank you for you quick response, I’ve double checked all of your suggestions but i’m still having no luck.
I have also used Safari 7. I used this to edit the blog, all was well until a couple of hours ago. I tried switching browsers, I tried Mozilla but nothing changed.I am using a Macbook Air OS X Version 10.9
I have received no error messages….
Is there anything else I can try?

I’d like to help you out, but I will need more information from you.
Has this issue just started since upgrading to Mavericks and Safari 7? Did you have issues prior to upgrading?
If you go to http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/ does it show that you have third-party cookies enabled?
You might try logging out of WordPress.com, clearing your browser cache, and then logging back in.
Please let me know which internet service provider you are using, as we have had some recent reports of issues with some ISPs.

Hello, thanks for helping.
Since upgrading to Mavericks wordpress ran smoothly for a few days. Its only since today that I’ve been experiencing this problem.I followed your link and it confirms that all third party cookies are properly enabled.
I will try logging out and clearing the cache…..

I have just logged into my partners WordPress blog using the same computer and accessed the customizing tools with no problem…
Is this information any help at all?
-
Yes. I have a suspicion it’s either a browser add-on OR possibly your virus protection. Some of them blacklist parts of WP.com at times. McAfee is particularly bad for this. If yours has a support forum, do a quick check there to see if other WP users are reporting this problem there. If so, that’s probably the cause and they will need to fix it.

I appreciate your patience. Since I last posted, I have checked your blog and I am able to reproduce this behavior. I’ve reported it to our developers, and I will keep you posted.
