customizing tools will not load

I am creating my home page, which is static and want to utilize the slide function. However, when I push the customize button, it tries to load the customizing tools but cannot. This is a problem on every page. A big black slab on the right says, “Loading tools….” but it never does.

Hi Anne, it looks like your front page is still in draft mode, so it’s generating a “page not found” error. The customizer tool can only load when a page or post is published on the front page. If you go ahead and publish your Home page you should be able to launch the customizer.
Just let me know if you need further help with this.

p.s. if you’re not ready to have your site public yet, you can always set it to private for now, and change that back to public when you’re ready to launch. You can do that under Settings > Reading and there’s more info here:

I response to your other message:
customizing toolbar will still not load for any page, in any theme. I have tried your advice about publishing the first page, and I followed several threads of suggestions on the forums, nothing has worked. When I try to type in my “address” to a specific link to fix the problem, as some forums suggested, it said it could not find me.
It actually loaded this morning for about three minutes and then crashed again and has not been loading since.
Thanks for any help.When you say “type in my address” – what is it that you’re typing, specifically? I did just check out your site and the customizer loads properly now that you have a page published on your homepage. Are you still having this problem?
