customizing web addresses
-
How do I customize web addresses in the blog. For example: If I wanted to post a link to Amazon.com for a book, instead of copying the entire link, how do I shorten the link to say something like “Here” or “Amazon” instead of having the entire link show up on the blog?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Be careful about merchandise links though so you don’t end up getting suspended.

Thanks.
From the link you gave, I do not benefit at all from the link. I am blogging about a book and using the link so if someone wants to buy it they can. If that is breaking the rules, then I will remove them. Would that be breaking the rules?

You’ll probably be OK if it’s occasional.
If you regularly post links to selling sites, you may run into a problem though.

The the guide for creating links in posts and pages was linked to above: http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/
This is the general link model:
Highlighted anchor text here
This is the visual result it’s not actually linked here in the forum.
Highlighted anchor text here
1. Enter the anchor text you want to link to first such as “image credit”.
2. Then use your mouse to highlight that anchor text. (If you don’t highlight the anchor text the chain icon will remain grayed out and not be useable.)
3. Next click the chain icon in the editor and proceed to create the link after you tick the box for the link to open in a new window.Be cautious about posting any affiliate links for the reasons stated in the support doc linked to above. Reviewing a book and linking to it on an occasional basis is not problematic but driving traffic via links in every post you publish will likely result in suspension.
