Customizing/Deleting the footer on a Template

How do I get rid of the the footer at the bottom of the page that says “Blog at WordPress.com. Theme: Chunk by Automattic. “? I’m using a template.

You don’t. It’s a requirement and hiding it with CSS will result in a ToS violation.
May I remove the ‘Blog at WordPress.com’ credit in my site’s footer?

I’m using a template.
Every blog here wearing the same theme is using the same underlying template as this is a multiuser blogging platform. We cannot access let alone edit either theme or template files. Only Staff can as every edit they make affects all blogs wearing the same theme.
