Cut & Paste from excel has stopped working

  Up until now, I have cut and pasted tables from excel into my web pages. This stopped working 2 days ago. The data still pastes into the webpage but it goues in as a string of data rather than a table. Does anyone know why this is happening.

  Usually I just click on insert block and press paste and the table (which I have previously copied from excel appears. This week that has stopped working (I have changed nothing else.

  Your suggested solution has worked and appears to solve the problem. Thanks for your help.

  Thanks for the details!

  So, any word processor will produce its own HTML, which sometimes can be pretty messy and not render correctly when using different software.

  Because of this, we strongly encourage our users to use WordPress.com post editor to create content and formatting on the fly. If you would like to try that, there’s the Table Block that would help you with it:

  https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/table-block/.

  If you still prefer to use Excel for that, I’d recommend using the Classic Block, as @aleone89 suggested above.
