Cutline–blog title modification
-
Hello everyone! my blog (with very little… OK no… content) is http://sfoewd.wordpress.com/. I’d like to change my blog title, “knowledge city,” to a different font and manipulate spacing between letters. I would also like to have a sub-heading underneath the title. I do have the CSS upgrade and I have looked at the style sheet for the theme (cutline), but can’t find where the entries for blog title are. I really like what this person has http://rogersmithshorts.wordpress.com/ and want to work on something similar.
Thank you all for your help!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What you see at the top of rogersmithshorts is a PNG image that was put into #masthead. They did it that way since cutline does not support a tagline. It is also the best way to do this when you are wanting to use a font that might not be installed on every computer. If the visitor does not have the font, their browser will substitute something else, which can severely mess things up.
To do the above, you have to also go to settings > general and delete the blog title there so that it doesn’t overlay your PNG image.

Got it. I remember there being a conversation though about that really hurting SEO. Thank you for the help!

Yes, not having a text-based blog title does hurt SEO. There might be a way to hide the text based header so it doesn’t show, but still exists. The text based header is ” h1 ” and you might be able to hide it ( display: none; ) and then add the add the image with the title and such as a “background” to #masthead.
This is the other person’s custom CSS: http://rogersmithshorts.wordpress.com/?css=css&rev=0 .
Take a look at it, and then try playing with the ” h1 ” doing a display: none; and see what happens.

Would this be the only way to not have your title be in capitals? I want the title of my blog to be in lowercase, and I have entered – text-transform: lowercase; – into my h1 location of the CSS and it doesn’t do anything. I can change the font-family and the font-style, but I can’t seem to make my font not be in capitals. Any suggestions?
