  • Wolflinda, we launched it just yesterday, check out the announcement post for details: http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2010/08/12/new-tweet-button/. You can find the option to turn it on in your Dashboard under Appearance > Extras.

Thanks, Lance! I was happy to wake up this morning and find my widgets restored!

YES- All my widgits are gone also and would like them back asap…..had no notification about this at all..and im preety pissed to be fair….alot of hard work went into these….

@Lance; [@wolflinda]: Tweet Button appeared when I clicked on the link to the sample post you sent me so I thought problem was solved. Unfortunately, it’s not there anywhere when I open my blog.

I just went through the installation process again with no luck.

I’m assuming Buttons should show up beneath each post and be visible to me and not just to visitors to the blog, right?

Lance, thank you for fixing the sidebar.. you must be superhuman dealing with all this… – the Menu I refer to is down the left column when in my dashboard under appearance. I wish I could to a screen shot to show you. When I click on it, it asks me if I only want to view webpage content that was delivered securely? and either way yes or no, it is all mashed up.
    Thank you again,
    Otto

  • @sineadlally Please check your widgets now and let me know how it looks.

@seeotto Oh, OK. So that sounds like it could be a browser bug relating to the WordPress.com admin area only. I’ve sent you an email asking for more details so we can track it down. I don’t think it’s related to Coraline or themes.

    Hi Lance,
I was happy to see your offer of help with missing widgets and I do need help! With the change, all my widgets including Calender, Recent Comments, Flickr, Twitter and a link to a SacBee article are gone. The Recent Comments when in place allowed one to click on one and go immediately to last comment…very handy! As I’m tech challenged, I really need help to restore my blog. I plan to change the theme at a later time as I don’t like Coraline at all.
    Thanks!

Some of my post headings are not publishing, some are. They all will display with the headings if opened with a link or if dblclkd to get a permalink page. This is very distressing.

I am doing nothing different from before. Any ideas?

Problem 2. Blogroll links are locked. I cannot add, delete or order them by rating. The changes are reflected on the Dashboard pages but don’t transfer to the Blogsite. (I have been clkg Update links.)

  • @maryannwilliams Your widgets are fixed up now.

@robark Could you check your posts now? It should be fixed now. I could only see one post without a title, and when I went into the edit screen, the title was empty. For your links, there could be a case where you choose a rating in the Dashboard, but in Appearance > Widgets the Links widget has a different sort order. The Dashboard order only changes what you see there—the Links widget controls the visual display on the public pages of your blog.

Post Headings – Fixed Blogroll order (Links) – Fixed Thanks Lance

The cutoff was annoying. The solution was/is a little elbow grease to restore your site. In the process, I for one, have found Coraline to be superior in several ways and, thus far, inferior in none.

I don’t know CSS so I had no CSS customization. I wonder if that is why my problems were minimal.

In spite of the email telling me all is well, my widgets are still missing, not in inactive, not anywhere, just GONE

  • Unknown's avatar

    Lance,

Thank You, Thank You! The widgets are back! I even figured out how to restore Flickr and Recent Comments with a little trial & error.

Now…how do I delete the tag line under Dragon Tales? Not my line & don’t like it.

Thanks again, I feel much better! I knew you guys would make things right in time.

As another who initially freaked out about the missing widgets (I manually re-recreated them out of anxiety to get as much back to normal as possible), I have to echo what many others are saying: Please notify us by email if you plan to make changes like this again.

On top of the content disappearing, I had some pages that were previously marked as ‘Private’ suddenly become ‘Public’ on my blog. How could you let this happen? It’s shocking that a setting like that can be mistakenly changed due to a theme-upgrade! Appalling, really.

As others have said, WP is still the best blogging provider out there, but I’m a bit thrown off course from this change.

  • Hi davidcline,

The issue this week was a theme switch, and Pages are not tied to a theme like widgets are. Could you send us more information on the Pages issue so we can take a look? Send a link to the relevant Page and details to [email protected].

whilst not happy originally, I now find I prefer Coraline though am still getting to grips with some aspects

I like Coraline and the new drop down subheads under the menu items above the header, but when I roll over the subheads with the cursor, a popup comes up that simply repeats the subhead and in the process covers half of it and all of the subhead under it. How can I get rid of these popups? They’re unnecessary and obstuctive.

  • Unknown's avatar

Now that things’ve been sorted out somewhat (though maybe not entirely), is there any way to add the post author to the theme? I like the theme, but I blog with several other people, and having the post author listed is important to us.

(We blog at http://interrobangsanon.wordpress.com, not the linked blog.)

I was able to recover the widgets with no problems. My problem now is that the links have disappeared. Are but you can not see and the system does not allow me to create new links. How I can fix it? Thank you.

Hi, I don’t mind the change, but suddenly the “just another WordPress weblog” subhead has reappeared. I always thought that sounded terribly blase. Why would I want to market myself as “just another” anything?? I can’t see a way to edit this, since the header text seems to be automatically generated by the name of the blog. The option in Appearances>Header seems to be just a radio button for display text in header or not.

I would love to just say “by Claudia Putnam” in the subhead under the name of the blog. But I wasn’t able to figure out how to do that the first time around, either, so I reluctantly defaulted to no subhead then. It looks like now I can have one, as the placeholder is there, but I don’t see how to input it.

    Thanks for the help!
