Cutline to Coraline FAQs
-
Thanks so much for adding the comments link at the top of the post! That is fast service. :)
Quick question … is there any way to add comment count to that same link at the top o the post? For instance, so that it says “3 comments” on the link if there have been 3 comments on a post or “12 comments” if there are currently 12 comments on a post (just like it does at the bottom of the post)?
The Cutline theme included the comment count in the link under the post title.
Thank you again for your consideration of this request!

@knitvision We can’t tell you a specific time, but we can send you an email when it’s released over there, and you could also follow along with all new WordPress.org themes with this handy RSS feed: http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/rss/browse/new/

I wasn’t using Cutline before (just created my account today) but I added one widget (a photo) and the widget box disappeared in the control panel, the picture is still there and FAR too big.
And I can’t add any more widgets.
This is really frustrating.
I’d rather wait for themes then have them come out buggy, yeah?

I would also like to get my “badges” back. I had used Cutline’s “Text” area under Appearance > Widgets to put all the badges identifying communities I belong to. The text area allowed me to build the code by hand in HTML, so some of these badges were custom built and I no longer remember where I got them all, especially the images. I looked under inactive widgets but didn’t find them there. Had I known ahead of time that Cutline was going to disappear and my badges with it, I could have copied all that code into another document for safekeeping. But you guys (and gals) do a great job and hardly ever screw up, so I’m not going to whine. I’ll cope while you figure things out.

@kikipotamus I sent you an email about the missing widget (with a backup of the HTML so you can have it for reference).

Lance, this is part of what I was posted to the other Coraline thread a couple of days ago, but I think it got lost. I have just a few suggestions for Coraline. They’re not serious and and I can put up with things as they are — but some small theme tweaks would be really welcome.
1. The reverse-color block that highlights selected menu choices in the header is far too conspicuous for an otherwise clean theme. Menu items are links, so simply underlining a menu item instead of highlighting it with a reverse-color block is a visually subtle solution that should work with all background options.
2. Links in sidebar widgets aren’t underlined, not even those in text widgets. They do change color when moused-over, but it would be preferable if they also (or instead) appeared underlined during a mouse-over. Then they’d look more like links.

@sensuouscurmudgeon I think we’re done with Coraline design tweaks for now, unless something egregious comes. Big thanks for all your feedback and input on all this! :)

So now there’s *2* links to comments and no byline?
Just whining out loud that if you’re going to introduce a theme that replaces an existing theme that maybe it would be nice to work out all the details before it goes live. (sigh)

Hi
I’m transitioned to Coraline (two-column layout) and I have background image, and custom CSS, even though I’m no expert… I want my content to be on a white background so I used:#content-container, #header {
background:#ffffff;
margin:0;
}Furthermore I wanted some white space around the content, so I used
padding:10px;
in the same style, but this ‘pushes’ the widgets down below th content.Any suggestions as t what I can do?
thank you in advance

I am wondering if the Edit feature that appeared under the title of an article is gone forever or if it is just missing. That was a great feature for an admin. If an error in a published article was seen, by clicking on the edit in that article, it could be quickly fixed. Now I have to remember the error, go back into the dashboard, and go into all the posts to locate the one I need. Before it was an easy process.
Also, when looking at the dashboard with the names of the posts the width of the columns aren’t correct. The titles of the articles are a mishmash. This also happens with tags and categories. The spacing should allow titles to be seen better than what is in the example. Is there a fix that I can do?
This is an example:

With Coraline, my tables width now spread outside of the post window, like in here : http://vegebon.wordpress.com/2009/11/01/9-recettes-par-famille/
I tried to change the width, from 100% to 70% or 500, but nothing has changed. Could you please tell me how to shrink the table for it to fit within the post width ?
Thanks ! -
I was shocked when I saw my blog all wrong, with widgets gone and new widgets in place.
Among them one that shows COPYRIGHTED flickr images from a person I don’t even know! One can get sued for that!At first I thought someone had tempered with my password. Did I miss an email by you guys notifying your users about such a change?
Not happy!

@stoej Adding the following to your Custom Styles should do the trick.
.two-column #container { background: #fff; max-width: 850px; overflow: hidden; } #header, #content-box { padding: 0 40px; }@bridgetteb We’ve made sure the Edit link is back at the top of every single post (it’s also at the bottom of all posts across your site). Thanks for pointing that out!
Would you be able to contact us at support@wordpress.com with a screenshot of the dashboard issue you’re seeing?
@vegebon We’ve made a tweak to the Coraline table styles that should prevent that from happening. Thanks for letting us know about that issue!

@jedentagberlin Unusual widgets shouldn’t have appeared on your site. We’re taking a look at this issue to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
