Cybersquatting on a wordpress.com domain

  Hello,

  I’d be grateful for a bit of advice.

  A Dutch colleague of mine, Jona Lendering, runs a classics website. For some reason he’s annoyed some Iranian royalists, who post attacks online on him from time to time.

  I notice that jonalendering.wordpress.com has been registered by one of them. It has no content: the only input is to edit the title of the default post to “Jona Lendering: Pseudo-Scholar and Conman & His Helpers Exposed”. The rest of the “site” is boiler-plate. So it’s just using wordpress.com to host an anonymous personal attack.

  It’s a small thing but … is there any way to get this sorted out? Anyone got ideas?

  Thanks – I’ll try. But I’m not sure the terms of service are violated by this. It’s just disreputable.

  Amusingly I notice someone has carefully registered “http://barackobama.wordpress.com/”!

  slimy is permitted as long as the TOS is not violated – bad taste is permitted

  there are several politician names registered here with no content in them

  Defamation is permitted, from the look of it, unless the victim is wealthy and lives in the US.
