Daily digest sent to subscribers has links to unpublished posts

The daily digest of posts sends links to unpublished posts so the reader gets a 404 message when they click on that post. It seems to occur when I write a new post and have it scheduled for a later date.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

Just to make sure we’re on the same page, you’re referring to your site itsjustlife.me. Correct? Also, are you referring to the newsletter sent by Mailchimp (your link on the sidebar) or through Jetpack/WordPress.com?

Jeremey—Yes to the url being http://www.itsjustlife.me and the digest that is involved is the daily digest that is being sent from wordpress.com so no —not the Mailchimp subscription.

Thanks for clarifying! I just tried this out on a self-hosted site connected to Jetpack. I subscribed through WordPress.com, but when I scheduled a post on the site, I didn’t see any notification through email. I went ahead and subscribed to your site so I can try to catch this bug in the act. Can you let me know when you publish your next post?

thanks so much. I have a post scheduled to go live on the 19th at 6:00 am Central time. I don’t know that it always happens but it happens sometimes when I have worked on a draft and scheduled it for later publication. I have been working on posts today and scheduled a bunch so we will see. Thanks again!

I just received an email for Noteworthy Women : The Series, which appears to 404 when I visit your page. I received the email at 4:49AM MST, which would be 5:49AM CST. Since the post was scheduled to publish at 6AM CST, it should be up by now. Have you changed the scheduled date and time by chance? Still, this looks like it’s firing 10 minutes early.

That post actually goes live on March 23rd (the Noteworthy Women) . That is exactly the problem. It is sending out links to posts that will post in the future. I wrote that post yesterday and scheduled it to post on the 23rd—never had it set to post today at all. My post today was Sharing More Ag Love. Thanks!

That is weird indeed. I’m trying to reproduce this on a test blog. I’m wondering if the Daily Subscriptions bit is the key here. I scheduled a post for a later date, and I’m going to see if it sends me a Daily email tomorrow morning. I’ll report back here as soon as possible!

Hi! I haven’t forgotten about this. I’ve just been unable to reproduce on my side (although I’m getting your posts before they should be going out). Can you let me know what plugins you’re running on your self-hosted site?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Still happening today .
Plug Ins I am running include: Askimet, Amazon link engine, instagram basic widget, EWWW image optimizer, far future expiration plug in, instagram slider widget, Jetpack, social fabric analytics for collective bias, wordpress SEO, wordpress ultimate recipe.

Thanks for confirming! I’m still receiving them on my side as well. On your side, is there any content currently in the post titled “The Bane of My Existence?” That’s the latest update I received. Also, in the top right-hand corner of the edit screen, can you let me know what you see in this spot?

If you would like, we can temporarily turn off Jetpack subscriptions so these emails stop going out until this gets resolved. To do that, navigate to this page:

    http://itsjustlife.me/wp-admin/admin.php?page=jetpack_modules

Hover over the Subscriptions module and click “Deactivate.” We’ll be able tor reactivate this later without any additional consequences.
