Daily/weekly backup?
-
Hi,
Being a owner of a blog over 10 years old, it had been a challenge to not lose my data through some of the inevitable cyber turmoils.
I understand that I could export my blog in xml now. However, it seems the import process isn’t that reliable yet e.g.
– It messed up my categories & tags.
– I blog a lot about code and use < & > a lot in my posts. I noticed them being lost during the import. I had to manually fix a lot of the entries.
– In addition, I must remember to do it manually. From experience, “things” always happen when it’s least expected. That said, having a backup in xml is better than nothing.
However, I’d LOVE to have an automatic periodic backup of some sort. The BEST will be a sql script of all of my wordpress tables.
I understand that’s no easy task. However, do you guys have any plan to offer such a service? I’m very willing to pay for that.
Thank you!

Firstly – congratulations on sticking to blogging for ten years – that’s quite the achievement!
I’m perturbed by the xml problems you’ve been having, you really should be having a better experience. Do you have any of the problematic XML files by any chance?
WIth regards to the backups, I can reassure you – we keep very regular backups here at WordPress.com.

Hi Hanni,
Yes I’ve already provided my problematic XML to your other support -> https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/import-with-no-cats-and-tags He helped me resolve the no categories and tags issue. But the code issue was something I later realized while I was going through all of my 1111 posts @_@.
Thank you for the assurance on the backups. I’ve been impressed by you. Hopefully this time it will be different.
